You Know, I Don’t Really Care - The Faddist’s Song

Unless I’m told how do I know,
Unless I’m shown how can I see
Don’t you know I’m an educated man
And this is how I’ve been taught to be.
Unless everyone’s doing a thing
How can I be doing that now
I need to be a part of the crowd
That’s my most solemn vow.
Unless some book tells me the truth
Or a thought leader confirms it all
It’s not something I’ll ever touch
For that’s not the way I play ball
Unless someone tells me what to believe
Unless someone tells me what’s in
It’s sacrilege to believe in it
It’s the worst ever possible sin
You know I love to wear my shades
You know I love to dress fashionably well
For that’s the proof that I’ve got it all right
The rest of the world can go to hell
Unless I’m told where I should go
How can I ever be able to know
As long as my body looks good
It doesn’t matter that I didn’t ever grow
What’s happening in the world is not my concern
And I don’t care what’s right or wrong
Who cares if my neighbor’s been done to death
It’s not my deathknell and I can’t hear the gong.
You know, I don’t really care about anything
You know, I don’t believe what others do
You know I’m busy having a good time
You know, I just don’t care for you.
