You are not a victim,

You are a proud veteran!

From the experiences that life

Passed you through.

You are a veteran who survived

The bullet holes -

Not the ones in the body

But the unseen ones in your soul.

And you need to see your strength

That pulled you through the pain,

Fighting those moments alone

When the fire seared through you,

Charring you inside

But you gathered yourself together

And breathe fresh new air...

You have arisen from the embers...
