The World Was Not Made to Please You or Me

Was the world made to please you

Or me or anyone?

The world existed before we were born

And will exist after we’re gone.

Was it made to please you or me?

A thousand things happen to us each day,

A billion things happen around each moment

Surely, there will be many that we don’t like

And there may be some that we do

But was the world made to please you or me?

The world is there and stuff keeps happening

And some of the stuff touches our lives

But the world was not made to please you or me

Yet

The world cannot stop us from being pleased or happy

If that’s how we choose to be

Though the world was not made

To please either you or me...
