The Vendor and the Bull

The vendor is a man of humble means Who makes a living selling fresh greens He brings his humble stock from far And he doesn’t come driving in a car He pushes his cart to where customers might be So they may buy if they like what they see Before he could sell the little he brought To provide for the family that’s he’s got A passing bull comes ambling by To inspect the veggies piled not too high He puts his muzzle where the veggies lay And begins to chomp them merrily The vendor looks on with gentle eyes As the bull feeds as if it’s won a prize And pushes more greens towards the bull So it may eat until it’s full It doesn’t bother the vendor that he’ll have less Though his finances are quite a mess It’s enough today a hungry one’s been fed And he’ll be at peace when he goes to bed.
