The Temple Within

All the energy and power of external events
Can be countered in the sanctum within
If the one who is meant to occupy that space
Has been consecrated and established there.
It won’t matter who breaks the temple walls
Nor will the attacks of heathens wound
For the one that’s consecrated will stand his ground
Even when his symbolic presence is ground.
All the temples that we build to see
And where we go to worship and in silence sit
Are the blueprints for what we must do within
And are sure to get there bit by bit.
I sit in silence sometimes and offer a prayer
To the deities consecrated in stone
That I may find the one to be worshipped
When I am with me, utterly alone.
