The Temple and the Deity Within

If there is a temple

Surely, there must be a deity

And if there is a deity

Surely it must be worshipped.

And if the deity is worshipped

Surely the deity will respond

And if the deity responds

Surely, one’s prayers must be answered.

If one’s prayers are answered

Surely one will be happier

And if one is happier

Surely the deity will be pleased.

You, too, have a temple

And in fact you have two

And between the two temples

Resides a deity just for you.

By the sides of your eyes

There are the two temples

And deep within a deity sits

Waiting for your lamps to be lit.

But you are not a believer

And temple visits are not for you

And so the deity nods off waiting

For things that you must do.

The path to the deity within

Is through the stairs of your spine

Through which your offerings must go

To rouse and activate the divine.
