The Luscious Lure of Lies

Who cares for truth when lies work so well

For they keep us from living a life in hell

Truth belongs to the netherworld while lies to the one above

And that is why lies are what we love

Why should we be disillusioned when that’s all that truth can give

After all, we’re here for a while and we need to live

Lies have always worked their charms on all

But those that go after truth continue to fall

Truth, however, has a wonderful role to play

For lies must be couched as truth in all we say

And so the game of life must go endlessly on

Truth must be eclipsed as lies light up our dawn

We are merely humans and there’s only so much we can stand

Of that strange thing called truth that we can’t hold in our hand

So, gladly one shall go through with all life’s lies

And wait to discover truth when one dies.
