Saboteurs Within

Have you noticed how sometimes

You dislike those who do you good?

Have you noticed what makes you do it

And would you have stopped if you could?

Somehow sometime we left landmines

Somewhere inside of us

And they choose to do their thing

That leave us broken, torn and hopeless.

Those saboteurs strike when we’re on the path

To progress and a better way to be

But when we’re not watching ourselves

They strike with great accuracy.

The mind becomes clouded and dark at times

And clarity disappears from one’s life

That’s when the hailstones begin to fall

That cut and slice away like a knife.

We begin doubt those things and people too

That may have been benefiting us

So we become resistant to them

And oppose or avoid their gifts to us.

And then time passes and what could have grown

Lays withered, broken or dead

For we did not make a sensible choice

And chose the wrong thing, instead.
