Revolution and Evolution

Revolution is change that is forced from without

Evolution is change that flowers within

And of the two the former gets the glamour

While the latter is consigned to a garbage bin.

Change that is forced from without

Will create chaos and soon lose its charm

For the change it brings is merely cosmetic

And its reward is usually just more harm.

Evolution is gentle and quite subtle too

But its pain is really not less

For it responds to the environment as well

But works to bring order to an internal mess.

Revolution is powered by anger and revenge

While evolution is powered by the need to adapt;

A revolution begets more of that which was

And leaves a system both spent and sapped.
