Know what I’m preparing for?
It’s that thing that comes to all
But it often comes without a knock
Or an, ‘...if I may, please’
And, yet, it’s always drawing closer
And closer and closer...
Remember, ‘black black coffin’s 10 miles away...
Black black coffin’s 5 miles away...
...there I got you’!
And get it surely does.
And so I’m preparing for it...not so much externally
As internally.
And I watch how I think and feel, respond
And act
And choose to laugh silently in joy
When something hurts my ego
For I know my ego is really not me or mine
Yet it pretends to be boss-man
And I watch how I look at ‘another’...
Until an unwanted part of me dissolves
For a few moments at the very least.
And I tolerate things I don’t like
For I know my examiner’s got his eyes on me
And I would like him to see I’m ready
Truly...
Yes, I’m preparing...inside...
