Three minutes without it or maybe five, in some rare instances, and it’s goodbye! A final goodbye.
Breath! That’s how important breath is for life. Yet, most go through life barely ever choosing to give it any attention, leave alone importance.
We love food, labor over it, spend hours each day thinking about it, making preparations, buying ingredients, reading about it, discussing it, choosing where to go and what to eat, watching TV programs and doing a thousand other things on food, for food and about food. Because food has taste and we are slaves to our taste buds. Yet, we could survive a week, two weeks perhaps, without food. We’d be considerably weakened but not quite dead.
Similarly, we choose to spend a lot of time on drinks...soft and hard and a lot of of other states in between. The range of drinks we consume is vast and varied and so is the time we spend on it. They’re important because they contain some water, an essential ingredient needed to live. But we could definitely go without it for a few days, maybe even a week. It would probably leave us at the doorsteps of a morgue if not in it. Surely, it’s important, or at least the water content of a drink is.
Breath, drink (water) and food are all important for life but of the three it’s the breath that holds the greatest importance. And, it’s the one that gets least attention.
Just as the body needs a variety of food and drink for health, it also needs variety of breath.
Breath is not just life-giving it’s probably life itself! And, unknown to many, it’s also a bestower of health and vitality...probably more so than anything else we need in life.
Breath is also closely connected with mental health. If we choose to breathe the right way, the way nature intended it and programmed us at birth to do, we would continue to live a healthy life physically and mentally.
From personal experience, I can tell you that breathing well and in a variety of ways has helped cure addictions and various other health conditions. It has helped clear the mind, enabled creativity, brought joy and vitality in addition to numerous other benefits, including the kind that many desire...those used in the bedroom.
Becoming aware of the breath and then learning a variety of breathing techniques will empower you in ways you never imagined.
Do choose to make your breath your friend, partner, psychoanalyst and physician and more. Make your breath your lover! It will heal, guide, inspire and much more...
