Power of Choice VII

That which is going to happen the next moment, hour or year is not guaranteed. We may have an idea, sometimes even a very good idea but still it cannot be guaranteed in any way. And, whatever does happen in the so-called future will actually only happen in the present.

The only way to live is to live in the moment. There is no alternative. There is no way to live in the future just as there is no way to live in the past. All that ever happens, has happened or will happen, will do so in the present. That’s all there is. The ever-present present!

The only way to use this to our advantage is by giving it all our attention. The mere fact of being present, fully present in the present moment creates enormous possibilities and potential. That’s the small window in which creation happens, magic unfolds and reality is shaped.

If the mind is cranking out thoughts and scenarios, chances are they are loaded with emotions such as fear, anxiety, sadness or whatever else. There could be excitement, hope or some positive emotion, too. However, when the tiger of the present moment is not grabbed by its head, it could easily snap at us or even grab a bite.

However, if one’s full but relaxed attention is in the present, it gives a certain dexterity, an alacrity and alertness to respond as needed. And, when a moment gets the best response, obviously it leads to the best likely outcome.

The present brings a gift and it expects a gift. It expects the gift of our presence, of being present physically, mentally and emotionally. That’s when the exchange of gifts happens and that’s the foundation of continued successes.

As a wise man put it beautifully, ‘take care of the present and the future will take care of itself,’ or words to this effect.

Anxiety for the future is like leaving the taps of energy open...what flows out is our vitality.

Can anything worthwhile ever be achieved without enough vitality?
