Mining Through the Lies

In a world where lies abound

And one lie tries to prove the other bad

While those that lie because they know no better

Merely show how they’ve been had.

I wouldn’t mind if you lie to me

As long as you’re sure it’s not a lie

But posturing is such an easy thing

When the intellect’s been splashed with dye.

It’s the honest lie that I might accept

But lies have become a way of life

And few can dare to look deep within

To ferret out truth with an incisive knife.

One cannot reach one’s mine of truth

Until he kills a large part of his very being

For the shades of lies are his own making

That prevent one from knowing and seeing.

Until such time as I see the gleam of effort

Shine in and through your eyes

I’ll disregard all your claims of truth

And continue to believe my own lies.
