Love - Sow the Seed Within

Unless you’ve learnt to love your self

You’ll never really love another;

Passions will rise and fall like waves

And you’ll imagine you’ve found your lover.

All your love is merely a game

To find someone to love you somehow;

And if someone such comes along

You’ll readily take the big vow.

While the relationship continues to endure

You’ll wonder why and how you’re loved;

You’ll test and question and withhold your trust

For your appetite like greed has risen above.

You yearn to be loved more and more

And desire a lover committed for an eternity

But you’ve still not learnt to love yourself

And swing between anger and self-pity.

Those who wish to find love must know

That the seeds must be first planted within

For then the tree of love grows and gives

Fruit and shade and life-sustaining oxygen.
