Know Me, Then Judge Me

Unless you’ve walked the path I’ve walked,
Unless you’ve seen what I have seen,
Unless you have experienced all I have
How can ever really know me?
If you don’t know me though you think you do
How can you judge me for good or bad
And if you can’t judge me why pretend,
You’ll do better to know yourself some more.
If you begin to know yourself
You’ll begin to know me much more
And then when you’ve known me
Through knowing yourself
You’ll never need to judge me any more.
And, if I have judged you ever before
I must know that I’ve been a fool
But now I’ve been shunted away
From the seat where judges sit
So I amble through corridors of apparent justice,
A lilt to my steps, a song in the air...
