Know Me, Then Judge Me

Unless you’ve walked the path I’ve walked,

Unless you’ve seen what I have seen,

Unless you have experienced all I have

How can ever really know me?

If you don’t know me though you think you do

How can you judge me for good or bad

And if you can’t judge me why pretend,

You’ll do better to know yourself some more.

If you begin to know yourself

You’ll begin to know me much more

And then when you’ve known me

Through knowing yourself

You’ll never need to judge me any more.


And, if I have judged you ever before

I must know that I’ve been a fool

But now I’ve been shunted away

From the seat where judges sit

So I amble through corridors of apparent justice,

A lilt to my steps, a song in the air...
