I Shall Not Succumb

Satan came to me one night

And offered me wealth and fame;

In return I’d have to give him my soul -

I turned him down, oh! What a shame!

My poems and words are read by few

And fewer care for what they’re worth -

I did turn Saran down

And so I must suffer much dearth.

I took refuge in my Hanuman

Who drove out fear from my heart

And that’s where I continue to abide

And Hanuman continues to play his part.

Perhaps, my talents are not enough

To inspire those who are in need

But no matter where I am pushed

I refuse to succumb to crumbs or greed.

Satan came to me one night

And offered to share his gifts

But I shall not fall prey to him

No matter how my life shifts.
