Hunger

The body hungers after food to sustain itself

And the mind after knowledge,

The heart too hungers after love

Then how can the soul’s hunger be sacrilege?

There are other types of hunger, too

For power or sex or wealth or fame

And then there’s the ego’s hunger

That’s greedy for emblazoning one’s name.

Check your hunger to know yourself

And feed it with gentle hands

So that the journey ahead is pleasant

Through the amazing wondrous lands.
