Here and Now

Here is a wonderful place

And that’s where one needs to be

But how big is here or how small,

With what vision must we see?

Now, too, is a wonderful time

And that, too’s where we must be;

But what is the length of now,

Can it also be eternity?

The mind plays its games in many ways

And its games are meant to distract us all

But where must our attention go -

That depends on whether we’ve heard the call.

Sometimes it seems that eternity

Rolls itself into a moment, Now -

Sometimes it seems a moment, too

Stretches its arms into eternity.
