Good Fortune Comes Cloaked

Our greatest misfortunes

Are often the biggest strokes of luck

For tied to their tails unseen

Comes rolling an empty truck

For it carries a load of freedom

And opportunity to make a new start -

Is that not good fortune,

Ask your beating heart.

What can be greater misfortune

Than to be stuck in habits and ways

That cover our minds in a cloak

And darken all our days!

I celebrate my misfortunes with gratitude

And beware the good fortune

For that which appears to be good for me now

Will lose its appearance and sheen very soon.
