Gate to Prosperity

There is a special gate inside

That can be opened from the inside alone

That allows life’s gifts to pour on us

And bring prosperity where there was none.

The gate has a special lock

Whose keys are subtler still

And when they’re turned and gate flung open

The coffers begin to more than fill.

The key is turned when we attune ourselves

And are willing to do life’s chores,

Run its errands with a willing heart

Regardless of our old festering sores.

We need to listen to life’s subtle commands

That tell us when to contribute

With thoughts and actions, wealth or feelings

Instead of pretending inability to play its flute.
