Death!

Billions have come before

Lived their lives and died

And when they were gone

Perhaps, there were a few who cried.

And those that cried for those who’d left

Have also gone, their tears dried

So how does it matter that I shall die -

It’s something from which none can hide.

It’s certain that I shall die

What’s not is how I’ll die

But when I finally say goodbye

There’ll be few who’ll even spare a sigh.

Tears and sighs won’t mean a thing

For the ones who’ve walked out the door

But those that stay a while might talk

And say, ‘he was really such a bore’.

How I die might matter a little

Depending on the pain that’s felt before

But even that won’t matter much

As I depart for a faraway shore.

Where’s the need to fear death

Where’s the need to fear the pain

For what will happen will happen then

But I must be ready to get off the train.

I have already dissolved myself some

And the rest will be dissolved soon

In answer to what I once asked

And, perhaps, was granted the boon.
