Choices II

Perhaps, unconsciously, very often many of us are paralyzed when we are in a situation where we need to make choices. We often abhor making choices...yet choices are something all us are forced to make sometimes.

When faced with situations where we need to make choices, in many ways, these moments are important because they could well decide the course of our lives. These are special moments.

The choices referred to more specifically here, are inner choices and that’s what I would like to draw your attention to. Inner choices are subtle decisions/choices we make regarding how we are going to respond to life’s situations. Most times, we totally ignore this area of our lives. We merely react, unconsciously, unaware of how our reactions will impact our lives and lives of those around us.

These blind reactions are borne out of our mental conditioning and emotional state. They often lead to unpleasantness, conflict, stress and worse. They could easily end up hurting and harming us.

If we are aware, conscious and focused on our inner processes. We can easily take charge of them and choose to respond in a way that helps, strengthens, benefits and enriches us. For example, someone says,

‘Hey! You’re being very rude.’

Stop! Think how you are likely to react! Take a few minutes to think this through.

You could easily turn away, ignore, hit back with an uncomplimentary comment or whatever...

Let’s say for a moment, they’re all fine. Let’s not focus on what you say to the person ‘attacking you’.

Instead, think of what goes on inside you...that’s important.

If you’re able to...if you choose to stay unfluttered, unaffected or unconcerned, you’ve done very well.

That’s what we need to do...always, consistently or at least, as often as possible.

When that begins to happen, we start winning...and the winning soon gathers strength and momentum...

Before we realize it, we will have changed our lives...

That’s the power choices give us and that’s the power we need to grab with both hands!
