An Ode to VG Siddhartha, CCD

Some people set their sights very high
And they try the best they can
But if things turn out less than enough,
It’s amazing they joined the race and ran.
It’s not as if all must join the race
For life is not just about races
But if they did and put in their best
They’re better than many so-called aces.
Cafe Coffee Day has many outlets
And they’ve spread much joy and cheer;
What could possibly trouble its founder,
How could he possibly be broken with fear?
You did not need to feel defeated,
There is no defeat while one fights;
You did not need to demean yourself,
You merely came down a li’l from the heights.
You did not need to feel you were less
Because you couldn’t show yourself at your best;
You did not need to feel depressed -
You were merely being tested and hard-pressed.
You were already a champion of sorts
And an inspiration to many around;
They were astounded at your vision
And the business you had helped found.
You did not need to write a goodbye letter
And drive in pain to a river nearby;
You’d already traversed a very long way
And were ready to touch the beckoning sky.
You did not need to kill yourself,
A knife to your ego would have helped;
If only you’d backed off to check on your mind
You’d have smiled though your ego yelped.
Your beautiful loving family would not be hurt
As they are now with you gone so soon;
If only you’d worked more on your insides
You’d have treated misfortunes as a boon.
You did not realize how loved you were
Or you wouldn’t have willingly taken your final bow;
I pray for your peace wherever you are
And for strength to those who miss you now.
