An Obituary

Let me write my obituary today because few knew me while I lived and in any case, after I leave few will be interested in remembering me. But, perhaps, there are a few scattered souls somewhere who might care...

Rajesh (or rajyogi, his pen-name) was too much of a solitary soul. He seemed affable and friendly when one first met him but then it was like he closed a door and few could know him much more. He made friends fast and lost them even faster. He fiercely protected his independence of thought and rarely brooked opposition there.

Perhaps, he was an extremely opinionated kind of guy, unwilling to see another point of view. That’s the impression one would get after knowing him for any length of time. Yet, he seemed to change all the time...in his ideas, behavior and also appearance.

Even those close to him could never figure out what was going on in his mind. He seemed to think a lot, write reams of poetry and articles on a variety of subjects, though few were interested in what he thought or wrote. He could often be seen sitting away even when in a group, neither contributing to the happenings there nor being critical of them.

Rajesh seemed a mysterious fellow who could elicit strong likes and dislikes among those who knew him. But there were few who really liked him a lot and if there were some, he seemed to push them away from his life. He seemed to live by a different set of rules, his own.

He will be missed sorely...by the few who could understand him because he lived in the heart, by the heart and for the heart...

Om shanti!
