A Papaya Seed That Can Grow into a Mango Tree

That which a seed contains

Is what is expressed

When life makes it a tree

And, so, that which I contain

Will express itself and the world will see.

A seed may have no ability, perhaps,

To change what’s inside of it

But a human being can consciously change

Whatever he is inside,

Bit by bit.

I, too, am a seed of sorts

And you, too, are the same

But we are not like seeds that are buried,

We are the kind that can evolve and grow.

What use is my awareness, then

And what use is my intelligence, too

If I cannot use what’s vested in me

To achieve whatever life wanted to?

If I don’t know what I am

And I don’t know the abilities in me,

I’ll spend my life lost and wandering,

Wondering whether or not to be.
