A Mahabharata?

There are certain things inside of me

That I think belong to me

And therefore they must work for me

And always stand ready for me

But there are things inside of me

That I think belong to me

But they don’t necessarily work for me

Nor do they always stand for me

Why is it that parts of my own being

And perhaps, by very being too

Treat me as their sworn enemy

And are ever ready to sabotage me.

Perhaps, my being is really not mine

Nor all that’s there inside of it;

Perhaps, I must prevail despite their plans

And achieve whatever I set out to be.

There’s a Mahabharata that’s on inside

And, perhaps, it’s on inside all;

We need to do as Krishna guides

Or continue facing a relentless fall.
