You

Did you discover your self,
The One that you really are
Or did you eclipse it under
Countless layers of ideas of you
You came
Beautiful, innocent and utterly lovable
And then layers were put on you
And with each layer that you accepted
You were cheered and feted
And your acceptance of it was celebrated
And through the cheering and feting
And the loud celebrations,
The attention and the myriad distractions
You were slowly buried
Little did you realize that
Living meant burying you alive
Under layers of a new make-believe you
Any new layer added becomes a celebration.
And every layer peeled
Is met with ostracization.
The living do not accept
Exhumation of he who has been buried.
And as that buried you begins to reveal
More and more of your self
Things begin to fall away from you...
And leave you alone
For you are becoming complete.
